Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar
In observance of the National Women’s Month, TESDA Bulacan organized a seminar on Gender and Development (GAD) on March 13, 2024. Dr. Argel B. Masanda, a distinguished speaker, addressed the theme “Investing in Women: Advancing Progress towards a Gender-Sensitive TESDA Community.”
In the seminar, Dr. Masanda underscored the importance of allocating resources to support individuals of all genders, emphasizing the need for inclusivity within the TESDA community. He emphasized women’s vital contributions to the workforce and the importance of creating a supportive environment for their growth. Furthermore, he provided practical strategies for promoting equal opportunities and empowerment in vocational education and training for individuals of all gender identities. His presentation highlighted the value of embracing diversity to propel progress toward a more inclusive society.
Moreover, TESDA Bulacan incorporated GAD principles into its Hataw Program by including a zumba session for staff members in March as part of the Women’s Month celebration. This initiative aimed to promote physical activity and raise awareness about gender issues and equality within the organization.
Throughout March, TESDA Bulacan actively promoted the National Women’s Month Celebration by displaying advocacy tarpaulin endorsing the event and featuring the “Lupang Hinirang” music video with an all-women cast during flag-raising ceremonies. Additionally, staff members participated in the #PurpleFridays campaign by wearing GAD purple shirts to demonstrate their support for women’s empowerment and gender equality.
