TESDA Bulacan and ATEAB Hold 2025 Assessors’ Calibration and Workshop to Ensure Assessment Standards
On March 26, 2025, TESDA Bulacan, in collaboration with the Association of TVET Educators and Assessors in Bulacan (ATEAB), conducted the 2025 Assessors’ Calibration and Workshop at the Merry Land Pavilion, Taal, Pulilan, Bulacan. The event was attended by 142 competency assessors and 17 prospective assessors.
The objectives of the program were:
• To ensure that all individuals involved in competency assessments have a unified understanding of the standard methods of conducting assessments.
• To provide updates on the latest issuances regarding assessment procedures.
• To address any assessment-related concerns effectively.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from TESDA Bulacan Supervising TESD Specialist, Ms. Daisy C. Superior. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the importance of assessors’ calibration, stating that it was vital to maintain consistent standards in competency assessments, ensuring the reliability and credibility of TESDA’s certification process. Ms. Superior also acknowledged the crucial role assessors play in shaping the future workforce by upholding high standards in training and assessment.
ATEAB President, Ms. Richel Kalaw, then presented on Assessors’ Etiquette, highlighting the significance of professionalism and integrity in the assessment process. She encouraged assessors to maintain a fair, unbiased, and ethical approach when evaluating candidates.
Following this, Assessment Focal, Ms. Jessica Lyn Estrella, presented several important topics: Information on the Assessment Process, Updates on the Implementing Guidelines and Assessment Proceedings, Accreditation of New Applicant Competency Assessors, and Re-accreditation of Competency Assessors.
Additionally, Ms. Kathrine R. Angeles, Administrator of the Korea-Philippines IT Training Center, provided valuable insights into the procedures for conducting competency assessments, sharing best practices to enhance the effectiveness of the assessments.
Moreover, participants were grouped according to their respective sectors and tasked with determining schedules for their final demonstrations per Qualification. This approach ensured that the assessments were well-organized and tailored to meet the specific needs of each sector, allowing for more effective execution of the demonstrations.
In conclusion, the workshop equipped assessors with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to conduct competency assessments in alignment with TESDA’s high standards. The event was a success, reinforcing essential assessment practices and fostering a sense of community among professionals working to shape the future of TVET in the province.
