RTCCL and CIT-BulSUkicks-off partnership with assessment of staff, facilities

The Regional Training Center Central Luzon-Guiguinto (RTCCL-Guiguinto) and the College of Industrial Technology of the Bulacan State University (CIT-BulSU) kicked-off its partnership by holding an assessment of the latter’s staff portfolio and training facilities in five technical vocational education and training (TVET) areas.
RTCCL-Guiguinto Center Administrator Gilbert Castro and CIT Dean Dolly Maroma also mapped out activities and plans regarding the joint conduct of research and extension activities in Bulacan.
RTCCL-Guiguinto’s five trainers in automotive, welding, machining, electrical installation, refrigeration and air-conditioning, and electronics sat down with their college counterparts and evaluated their TVET portfolio and training facilities, equipment and tools using the relevant Training Regulations. A feedback report has been submitted to the CIT.
“Our college intends to comply with the standards set forth by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as part of our plan of turning each training workshop as an accredited assessment center,” Dean Maroma explained.
Castro added that the immediate goal is for the CIT teachers and facilities to become compliant with TESDA standards so that they can either register their tech-voc offerings and/or apply for accreditation as competency assessment centers.
“Aside from subjecting the all CIT students to mandatory competency assessment, we also plan to conduct training programs for NC III and NC IV qualifications such as electrical installation and automotive,” he said.
Meantime, CIT has committed to hold a seminar on basic research for the trainers and staff of the training center. In addition, they also pledged to assist in the conduct of extension activities in the poor and remote barangays of Bulacan, which according to Castro, shall initially serve as an “action research” activity of the training center.
