TESDA and LGU Marilao Set Skills Training for the Barangays

A total of ten (10) skills training programs will be jointly sponsored by the Municipality of Marilao under the leadership of Mayor Juanito H. Santiago and TESDA Bulacan. For implementation this month of November 2016, target groups will be trained on Soap Making, Perfume Making, Candle Making, Hand and Foot Reflexology, Domestic Appliance Repair, Manicure and Pedicure, Meat Processing, Can/ Jam Making, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II and Motorcycle Repair. LGU Marilao will shoulder trainers honoraria while TESDA Bulacan will provide the supplies and materials and the cost of competency assessment.

These training collaboration is in consonance with the current thrust of TESDA under the leadership of Sec. Guiling A. Mamondiong on barangay empowerment through skills training which is in consonance with the poverty alleviation program of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

Mayor Santiago was recently awarded by TESDA III as an outstanding Kabalikat for the LGU’s support to technical vocational education and training (TVET). Considered as notable contributions to TVET, Mayor Santiago provides a year- round program for skills training in the Mariano F. Santiago Livelihood Skills Training Center,  LGU run training center.  Graduates are linked to employers and are even provided a basic tool kit just in case they would opt to go into self- employment.
