TESDA Bulacan Hosts Bonsai Seminar and Workshop
On February 27, 2025, TESDA Bulacan, in collaboration with the Bulacan Association of Technical Vocational Schools (BATVS), successfully conducted a one-day Bonsai Seminar and Workshop with the theme “Bonsai: Cultivating Growth, Patience, and Sustainability in TVET” at the TESDA-Bulacan Provincial Office, RSDC Compound, Tabang, Guiguinto, Bulacan.
The event gathered 31 participants, including TESDA Bulacan Provincial Director, Ms. Melanie Grace T. Romero, and TESDA Aurora Provincial Director, Mr. Nomer M. Pascual.
Bonsai expert Mr. Nicomedes C. Domingo served as the resource speaker. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on demonstration, he guided the participants in the art of bonsai-making, emphasizing essential techniques, proper plant selection, pruning methods, and the patience required to cultivate and maintain a bonsai tree. He also shared insights on the cultural and environmental significance of bonsai, promoting sustainability and mindfulness in horticulture.
The interactive workshop allowed participants to apply their learnings firsthand, shaping their own bonsai creations under the guidance of Mr. Domingo. The activity fostered creativity, discipline, and an appreciation for nature, which aligns with TESDA’s advocacy for holistic skills development.
In conclusion, the seminar and workshop not only provided valuable technical skills in bonsai cultivation but also instilled patience, resilience, and a deeper understanding of sustainability, principles that are highly relevant in both TVET and personal growth. The success of the event highlighted TESDA Bulacan’s continuous efforts to diversify training opportunities, promote lifelong learning, and integrate innovative skills into vocational education.
