TWSP for a Cause
The Hospicio de San Jose, a welfare institution serving as a home to orphans, abandoned, persons with special needs and elderly will be a beneficiary of the TWSP of TESDA. The SJDM Cornerstone College, a private school located in San Jose Del Monte City was tapped by TESDA Bulacan to conduct the practical skills portion of the various Training for Work Scholarship Programs on construction at the Jardin Dela Virgen Milagrosa as an off-campus facility. The facility which was donated to the Hospicio de San Jose needs rehabilitation for its dilapidated buildings. As the hospice provides outreach programme and a Christian, social and work-oriented formation programme, it also needs skills training to assist the abandoned people to experience quality life with the aim of making them self – reliant and agents of social transformation. While the scholarship will provide their beneficiaries with the necessary skills on construction for employment, the facility itself will also be rehabilitated as the scholars in masonry, carpentry, scaffold erection and tile setting will hone their competencies at the very site of construction. The TVI will transport the beneficiaries of the hospice to the school for the school-based portion while the practical or skills portion will be conducted in the hospice.
Meeting held last May 22, 2019 with Sister Maria Socorro Evidente and Social Worker Jerwin Lucanas of the Hospicio de San Jose and Engr. Roberto Robes, President of the SJDM Cornerstone College with Trainers.
