“We advise you (all concern) to be judicious in dealing with such situation and other similar matters thereto. Verification with the Office of the Director General/Secretary can be easily done”, nakasaad pa sa inilabas na advisory ni Mamondiong. ###

TESDA chief seeks NBI help on new scam

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director
General, Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong has asked the National
Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the person behind the
scam that uses his name to collect money from officials of the agency.

In his Advisory 001 series of 2017, Mamondiong ordered officials of
TESDA (Central, National Capital Region, Regional and Provincial
Offices) to ignore phone calls which seek to collect money from them
purportedly upon his instructions.

Reports reaching the office of Mamondiong said that an unscrupulous
individual has been making phone calls using his office to seek
financial contributions purportedly for the drug rehabilitation
program of the government.

Mamondiong reiterated that he never used the telephone as a form of
communication in relaying his important directives or orders to any
attached agencies of TESDA.

If they receive any similar phone calls, the TESDA chief told them to
verify first with his office to avoid being gypped by the scammer.

The TESDA chief is hopeful that the NBI would be able to pinpoint the
person behind in the scam as soon as possible.

In February, a fake Facebook account of Mamondiong was uploaded on
social media which contains fake news. The NBI also looked into
the case.

“We advise you (all concern) to be judicious in dealing with such
situation and other similar matters thereto. Verification with the
Office of the Director General/Secretary can be easily done,” said
Mamondiong in his advisory. ###
